American Spirit Boat Parade
South Coast Sailing Adventures is teaming up with other boats from the Clear Lake-Galveston Bay area for the American Spirit Freedom Celebration 2010 Boat Parade on Clear Lake! This will be the fourth year for the parade, which was started as a chance for the boaters of Clear Lake and Galveston Bay to say thank you to the members of our armed forces. South Coast Sailing proudly won first place in the 2009 Boat parade.
We’ll meet at South Coast’s office in Kemah at 9:00 for a continental breakfast followed by decorating each boat for the parade. At noon the meet and greet, auction, and food festivities will be held at Nassau Bay Yacht Club. We’ll leave the South Coast Sailing School docks by 2:15 to arrive at South Shore Harbor for the start of the parade at 3:00. The parade travels east from South Shore Harbor, out past the Kemah Boardwalk and into Galveston Bay. After the parade we’ll return to the docks and drive to Nassau Bay Yacht Club from 6:30-7:30 for food, fun, swimming, and fellowship with the other boaters in the parade. Awards will also be given out at this time for the best patriotically decorated boat and best patriotic attire, so make sure to wear your red, white, and blue! If you have any patriotic decorations, flags, or ideas that you are willing to share, please contact the office ASAP. South Coast has chosen to donate the boats in our fleet for this event, and proceeds benefit The Lone Star Veterans Association. LSVA is a member-run organization that focuses on assisting Iraq and Afghanistan veterans make a successful transition from military to civilian life.
