ASA Coastal Navigation
Students that operate small boats and yachts of up to 50 ft in length on near coastal and inland waters will focus on navigation using paper and pencil techniques to understand the fundamental techniques of navigation. You will learn how to explain and demonstrate navigational theory while using charts and learn how to determine the course to steer and explain terms and symbols used on US charts. You will also become familiar with the instruments used to navigate coastal and inland waters. Coursework is completed in the classroom and at home.

ASA Basic Keelboat Class
Students learn to sail a boat 20 to 30 ft in length in light to moderate winds. Course includes introduction of the basic boat, learning the points of sail, basic sailing techniques, safety and seamanship skills. Class is taught on a Colgate 26, easy to use and comfortable for new sailors, she features a spacious cockpit with stainless steel railing and dual controls for the instructor which provides a safe secure platform for beginners. The Colgate 26 is currently used by both US Coast Guard and US Naval Academies to train their new cadets and midshipmen. After completion of course, student will receive ASA Basic Keelboat certification, Skill Building session with captain for ½ day, and a free ½ day charter on an Ericson 23 ft sailboat. *** Please note that we also offer WOMEN only classes - see our schedule for the Women on the Water courses
